Southern Section Tennis : La Quinta Defeats Louisville for 13th Consecutive Victory
Top-seeded La Quinta High School advanced to the semifinals of the CIF Southern Section 2-A girls’ tennis playoffs with a 14-4 win over Louisville Tuesday at La Quinta.
The win was the Aztecs’ 13th straight and improved their season record to 22-1. Sabrina Ortiz and Kari O’Connell, La Quinta’s top doubles team, swept their matches, despite Louisville’s juggling it’s lineup to strengthen its doubles teams.
In other 2-A action:
Valencia 9, Lompoc 9--The Tigers advanced to a semifinal meeting against La Quinta by holding a 79-76 advantage in games won.
In 4-A action:
Rolling Hills 12, Corona del Mar 6--The third-seeded Sea Kings were eliminated with an upset loss to the Titans, the Bay League’s No. 2 representatives.
Westlake 11, Marina 7--The Vikings were eliminated with the defeat at Westlake.
Palos Verdes 15, Woodbridge 3--The Vikings advanced to a semifinal match against Westlake with the win on its home courts.
In 3-A action:
Mater Dei 14, La Canada 4--The Monarchs remained unbeaten (23-0) with the victory at Santa Ana High School. Sabrina Burke and Laura Spinner swept their doubles matches to improve their season record to 50-3. Mater Dei will meet Westlake in Thursday’s semifinals.
