Running Back at Canoga Park Was Ineligible

Share

Kenny Durr, who accounted for 569 rushing and receiving yards and scored 10 of Canoga Park’s 22 touchdowns this season, was ineligible to play football at the school, Canoga Park assistant principal William Kinder said this week.

Kinder said that Durr, a senior who played for three Valley high schools in three years, took a service class at Canoga Park last spring that he was not eligible to take. Without the grade he received in that class, Durr’s grade-point average would have been lower than 2.0, the minimum required for eligibility in the Los Angeles Unified School District.

City officials have not yet determined whether Canoga Park will forfeit its seven victories. Kinder said that he does not anticipate any forfeits because Durr’s ineligibility was not discovered until after the season.

Durr has since transferred to Chatsworth.
