Girls’ Basketball Roundup : Seabrook Leads La Habra to Semifinals

Robin Seabrook, a 6-foot sophomore, scored 27 points Thursday night to lead the La Habra High School to a 49-43 win over Irvine in the second round of the Brea-Olinda Holiday Tournament in the Wildcats’ gym.

The Highlanders will meet Brea-Olinda in tonight’s semifinals, with the winner advancing to Saturday night’s championship game.

In other Brea Tournament action:

Foothill 60, Woodbridge 25--Chris McFerson, the 6-3 center who led the Knights to the 3-A championship last year, scored 24 points to lead Foothill past the Warriors in the second round. The Knights will meet Esperanza in tonight’s semifinals.

Esperanza 54, Alta Loma 33--Sharon Warmus led all scorers with 20 points and had 10 rebounds as the Aztecs whipped the Braves in the second round.

In consolation action:

Orange 47, El Modena 42--Suzette Sargeant scored 28 points, as the Panthers defeated their Century League rival.

Fullerton 47, Ganesha 41--Vicky Silva scored a game-high 20 points to help the Indians defeat the Giants.

In Artesia Tournament action:

Fountain Valley 63, Mater Dei 57--The Barons overcame a 21-point performance by Monarch guard Geri Gainey to win the fifth-place game.

In nonleague action:

Inglewood 57, Ocean View 48--Kelly Knox scored 18 points and Rosiland Moore added 16 to lead the Sentinels past the Seahawks at Inglewood High. Ocean View (4-2) was led by Dalene Lawson, who scored 19 points, Trina Vlachos, who scored 13 points and grabbed 18 rebounds and Dana Douty, who scored 14 points and had 6 assists.

La Quinta 64, Long Beach Wilson 24--Jane Utu scored 18 points to lead the Aztecs to the win over the Bruins at Long Beach Wilson High.

Valencia 56, Rosary 13--Steffi Strauss scored 17 points and Jenny Wilson added 14 to lead the Tigers (4-1) to an easy win.

Edison 80, Santa Ana 25--Martha Noffsinger scored 17 points and Kristen Wilson added 14 points, as the Chargers (5-1) whipped the Saints. Mona Martinez led Santa Ana with 12 points.
