Boys’ Basketball : Edison Survives El Modena Rally

Share

Edison High School survived some poor free-throw shooting and El Modena’s fourth-quarter rally to advance to the championship game of the La Quinta Tournament with a 61-59 victory over the Vanguards Thursday night at La Quinta High School.

The Chargers led by seven with 32 seconds to play, but that lead nearly slipped away after they failed to convert on two free throws that could have clinched the win. Edison (5-1) finished the game 17 of 34 from the free-throw line.

The Chargers, who have won five straight since opening the season with a loss to Capistrano Valley, will meet Huntington Beach in the final at 8 tonight.
