Roundup : Sophomore Helps Newport Harbor Beat Yuma and Advance to San Dieguito Final

Sophomore guard Drew Sheward came off the bench to score all six of his points in the final four minutes of play Friday night to lead Newport Harbor High School past Yuma (Ariz.), 49-44, in a consolation semifinal game in the San Dieguito Tournament at Encinitas.

Yuma cut Newport Harbor’s lead to three points with 2:35 remaining, but the Sailors (3-3) were able to hang on. Mo Lee paced Newport Harbor with 12 points and 6 assists.

Newport Harbor meets Fallbrook in the consolation finals of the 16-team tournament today.
