San Fernando, Granada Place 7 on All-City Team
San Fernando High placed four players and Granada Hills had three on the All-Los Angeles City football team released Tuesday by the Los Angeles Board of Athletics, comprised of sportswriters.
Granada Hills receiver Greg Fowble joined split end David Richards, lineman Mario Winfrey and tailback Lance Harper of San Fernando on the 4-A first-team offense.
Linebacker Kenyatta Morris of San Fernando made the first team defense along with lineman Barry Daniels and linebacker Bob Allen of Granada Hills.
On the combined 3-A/2-A team, 3-A runner-up Chatsworth placed two players. In all, there were six players from Valley schools named to the team.
Chatsworth, which finished 9-3-1 due in large part to the play of its undersized linemen, was represented by the two smallest lineman on the first team.
On offense, senior James Love (5-11, 225) was selected. Senior Richard Bennett (5-10, 175) made the defensive team as a down lineman. Monty Gilbreath of Taft and Junior Delgado of Canoga Park also made the defensive team.
Wide receiver Barry Thomas of Monroe and junior tailback Sean Hampton (5-9, 185) of Sylmar were selected for the offensive team.
