Patterson Scores 22 to Lead Chapman

Leone Patterson, a senior All-American, scored a game-high 22 points and 16 rebounds Thursday night as Chapman College beat Cal State Los Angeles, 69-59, in the California Collegiate Assn. opener for both at Orange.
It was Chapman’s 23rd straight home victory. Valerie Hartsfield added 17 points for the Panthers (10-4).
Megan Glaister led Cal State Los Angeles (4-7) with 17 points and Debbie Young added 14 points.
Chapman plays No. 10 Cal State Northridge at 7:30 Saturday night at Northridge.
In other games:
Southern California College 76, Christ College 46--Angela Smith scored 19 points and Kim Nidey and Mary Sullivan added 12 and 10 points, respectively, to lead the Vanguards to a nonconference win at Costa Mesa.
Meg Nitz and Valerie Meyer scored 18 points apiece for the Eagles.
SCC is 7-6 overall, and Christ College is 1-3. SCC plays hosts to Cal Baptist at 5:30 today.
