Appleberry’s 23 Leads Christ College to 71-47 Rout

Christ College Irvine shot 62% from the floor Friday night and routed Southwestern Baptist Bible, 71-47, in a Western Christian Athletic Assn. game in Phoenix.

Derwin Appleberry led the Crusaders (6-1, 18-5) with 23 points and 9 rebounds. He made 9 of his 12 shots from the floor. Tim Surridge was even more accurate for Christ College, making 8 of 9 of his field goal attempts. He finished with 16 points and 9 rebounds. As a team, the Crusaders were 32 of 51 from the floor. Southwestern Baptist Bible is 4-3 and 11-5.

Chapman College’s game at Cal State Los Angeles was postponed when one of the baskets in the Golden Eagles’ gymnasium would not lower into position. The California Collegiate Athletic Assn. game will be played Monday night at 7:30 at Cal State Los Angeles.
