Students at UC Santa Cruz have voted to change the school’s mascot and nickname for its athletic teams from Sea Lions to Banana Slugs.
However, there is a catch. The 1,441-296 vote is only advisory, and Chancellor Robert Sinsheimer has already said he’s against the name.
