All-Star Teams Play in Volleyball Tonight at Newport Harbor

The top high school volleyball players in Orange County meet tonight in two all-star matches at Newport Harbor High School.

North and South girls’ teams play at 6:30 p.m. The North and South boys’ teams play at 8.

Dana Hills Coach Oz Simmons, who led the Dolphins to the Southern Section 4-A title this spring, is coaching the South boys’ team, which features Tim Glasgow and Chris Knowles, both of Dana Hills.

Edison senior Dan Hanan, who signed a letter of intent to attend Stanford, leads the the North team. Edison’s Dan Glenn is the North coach.

Newport Harbor’s Mike Neece coaches the girls’ North team, which includes Laura Asper, who played for the Sailors, the Southern Section 4-A runner-up to Mira Costa last fall.

Capistrano Valley’s John Gipe coaches the South team, which includes Cinnamon Williams and Tara Cross of Southern California Christian.
