Indianapolis Colt linebacker Duane Bickett was charged with assault and battery for his role in the May 9 street brawl with an off-duty Glendale police officer.
A former USC football player, Bickett, 23, faces up to one year in jail and a fine of up to $1,000, said Deputy District Atty. Mairssa N. Batt. The fight broke out while Bickett and seven others were riding through Glendale in a limousine. At a traffic light at California and Central avenues, the off-duty officer and Bickett got into an argument and a fight ensued, police said.
Bickett was not charged with assaulting a police officer because “the officer was off-duty, not in uniform and not acting as a police officer,” Batt said.
