BYU Ends CSUN Volleyball Team’s Win Streak at 15

The Cal State Northridge women’s volleyball team, ranked No. 1 nationally in the Division II coaches’ poll, had its 15-match winning streak ended by BYU on Thursday, 15-8, 15-7, in a pool-play match at the National Invitation tournament at UCLA.
BYU is ranked No. 7 in the Division I poll.
CSUN (17-2) came back to beat Cal, 15-10, 8-15, 15-10, in a later match Thursday night and will meet 11th-ranked UC Santa Barbara today at 11 a.m. in its final match of pool play.
If the Lady Matadors beat Santa Barbara, they will advance to thechampionship quarterfinals of the 16-team tournament, which includes nine of the nation’s top 20 Division I teams.
If CSUN loses to Santa Barbara, it will drop into the consolation bracket.
CSUN, the only Division II team in the tournament, hadn’t lost since Sept. 9, when it was beaten by Loyola Marymount.
