College Roundup : Southern California College Gets First Volleyball Win

The Southern California College volleyball team earned its first victory of the season Tuesday, defeating Pacific Christian College, 15-11, 15-11, 15-10, in a nonconference match at Costa Mesa.

For the Vanguards (1-15), Kristy Woodburn had 6 kills and 22 digs, and Laura Dequine had 3 kills and 10 digs.

Chapman 3, Cal State Dominguez Hills 0--Janet Jenson had 14 kills and only one error in 29 attempts as the Panthers won, 15-12, 15-10, 15-12 in a California Collegiate Athletic Assn. match at Cal State Dominguez Hills. Christy Anderson had nine digs for the Panthers (2-3, 9-13).

In women’s soccer:

Cal Poly Pomona 2, UC Irvine 1 (OT)--The Broncos (9-5-3) held a 1-0 advantage at halftime in the nonconference match in Pomona, but Alicia Braverman scored for UCI (7-6-2) with eight minutes left in regulation. Cal Poly’s Tricia McCarthy scored the winning goal.

Cal State Long Beach 1, Chapman 0--Toni Wolff scored the only goal less than two minutes into the nonconference match to lead the 49ers (6-6-2). Panther goalie Teri Schaub recorded 16 saves. Chapman is 3-11-1.
