GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY

Alemany 19, Louisville 38--Alemany won its first San Fernando Valley League championship since 1982 by beating Louisville at Pierce College. Alemany swept the top three spots and will enter the league finals with a 6-0 record. Siobhain O’Reilly finished first with a time of 19:55 and Kelly Dwyer finished second in 20:13. Inez Richards (20:41) was third.

Hart 21, Schurr 33--Anne Flores led Hart to its fourth consecutive Foothill League dual meet title at Schurr. Flores finished second with a 20:23 effort over the three-mile course. Teammates Patrice Arter (20:25) and Amy Thurston (20:29) finished third and fourth.

The victory over Schurr, the No. 7-ranked team in the Southern Section 3-A Division, was Hart’s 20th consecutive dual-meet league win.

BOYS CROSS COUNTRY

Hart 15, Schurr 53--The victory at Schurr gave Hart its third consecutive Foothill League dual-meet title. Frank Flores led Hart, running the three-mile course in 15:39. He was followed by teammates Don Patti (15:55), Stephen Lepken (16:02) and Bobby Bans (16:03) in second, third and fourth place.

WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL

Pierce def. Ventura 15-11, 15-3, 15-8--Karen Suppan had nine aces, and teammate Patricia Duffy had five blocks to lead Pierce (4-1) to a Western State Conference win over Ventura (0-6).

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

Calabasas def. Santa Paula 15-4, 15-1, 15-11--Sandi Thomsen had nine kills and Kelly Martin had four to lead Calabasas (7-3, 4-2) to a Frontier League win.

L.A. Baptist def. Marshall Fundamental, 15-5, 15-4, 15-11--Laurie Evans and Kendra Frazier led L.A. Baptist (9-3, 10-4) to the Alpha League victory at L.A. Baptist. Evans had 13 kills and 2 blocks. Frazier had seven kills and four blocks.

WATER POLO

Harvard 13, Agoura 9--With the win at Harvard, the Saracens (5-1) assured themselves of at least a share of the Pioneer League title. Ivan El-Sayed scored seven times, and teammate Fred Brende scored twice.

GIRLS TENNIS

Louisville 6, Notre Dame 0--With just two matches left in San Fernando Valley League play Louisville assured itself a berth in the Southern Section playoffs by defeating Notre Dame.
