Valley Fall Highlights : Northridge Volleyball Team Extends CCAA Streak to 24

Behind the hitting of Alissa Evans, the Cal State Northridge women’s volleyball team rolled to its 24th consecutive conference victory Tuesday, defeating Cal State Dominguez Hills, 15-1, 15-6, 15-10, at CSUN.

CSUN improved its record to 25-4, 9-0 in the California Collegiate Athletic Assn. CSUN has not lost a CCAA match since 1984.

Evans led CSUN with eight kills, while Sue Darcey and Karen Lontka each added seven. CSUN trailed in the final game, 10-4, but then ran off 11 unanswered points to seal the win. The match ended on a service ace by Dawn Eto.

BOYS SOCCER

North Hollywood 5, Reseda 3--Jose Umana scored three goals to lead North Hollywood to the nonleague win. Umana, a sophomore center-forward, has scored eight goals for the Huskies (2-2). Chong Do and Carlos Rodriguez each added goals for North Hollywood. Reseda also is 2-2.

Cleveland 2, Van Nuys 1--Oscar Ramirez, a sophomore right wing, scored two goals to lead Cleveland (3-1) to the nonleague win at Van Nuys (1-3).

GIRLS TENNIS

Grant 5, Marshall 2--Grant improved to 6-0 in the East Valley League with the victory. Jennifer Schneider, Karen Berelowitz, Hallie Wetzell and Naomi Katz each won their singles matches for Grant, while Stacy Kolker and Stephanie Sasaki combined for a doubles win.

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

Cleveland def. Monroe, 7-15, 15-13, 15-6--Samantha Goldfarb had seven kills to lead Cleveland to the North Valley League win. Sharon Kim and Karen Reinstein each added three kills for Cleveland (6-3 in league). Monroe is 4-5.

Grant def. Van Nuys, 15-8, 15-7--Jenna Horowitz had four kills to lead Grant (6-3 in league, 8-5) in the East Valley League match at Grant on Monday.
