Egan Signs Two Forwards to Attend USD

SAN DIEGO — USD Coach Hank Egan knows that 7-foot center Scott Thompson and 6-9 forward Nils Madden, both seniors, won’t be around next year. So he’s already dealing with their departure.
Keith Colvin, a 6-foot 8-inch, 220-pound forward from Chico High School, and John Sayers, a 6-7 200-pound forward from Bellarmine College Prep in San Jose, signed Wednesday to attend USD. Wednesday was the first day to sign high school seniors.
“Both players eventually will be bigger and stronger,” Egan said. “Of course we’re going to be looking for big people. Do you think I won’t notice that Scott and Nils are gone?”
Egan described Colvin as a power forward and Sayers as a shooting forward. Colvin averaged 14 points and 10 rebounds a game his junior season at Chico. Sayers averaged 15.7 points per game as a junior at Bellarmine.
