Arizona State is considering training at Cal Lutheran during its preparation for the Rose Bowl. CLU Coach Bob Shoup said ASU officials visited the campus Wednesday. Pierce College and Cal State Northridge are also being considered. The Sun Devils will stay at the Warner Center Marriott in Woodland Hills.

The Western Football Conference will ask its members for a five or 10 year commitment to the conference at its meetings Dec. 2-3 in Portland, Shoup said. “There have been a lot of rumors about Portland State wanting to move to the Big Sky and Sacramento and Northridge have been looking at Division I possibilities,” he said.

Mike Kane of Northridge and Torii Lehr of Cal Lutheran were named Western Football Conference players of the week. Kane, a 5-10, 180-pound senior, rushed for a career-high 236 yards and three touchdowns in Northridge’s 34-0 win over Portland. Lehr, a 6-0, 190-pound junior linebacker, made 18 tackles--six solo--in Cal Lutheran’s 45-23 victory over Azusa Pacific.
