Granada Hills Reaches 4-A Tennis Semifinals

Alisha Portnoy’s straight-set, 6-0, 6-0, victory helped lead the Granada Hills girls tennis team to a singles sweep and into the 4-A City Section semifinals as the Highlanders defeated Taft, 5-2, Wednesday at the Racquet Center in Studio City.
Granada Hills earned the right to face University in a semifinal match at the Racquet Center on Friday at 1 p.m.
Noel Calderon also won in singles play for the Highlanders, 6-2, 6-0. Debbie Harris, Granada Hills’ No. 3 singles player, also won in two sets as the Highlanders lost just six games in three singles matches.
Susanna Su and Heather Child won in doubles play for Granada Hills, while Taft’s No. 1 team of Dana Levy and Julie Venger scored one of the two Taft points with their three-set win.
