Last-Second Save by Penman Preserves Win for Mt. Miguel

Senior forward Chris Penman blocked a last-second shot Wednesday night to preserve Mt. Miguel’s 36-35 victory over San Dieguito in the Mt. Helix Tournament at Helix High.
Mike Flores led Mt. Miguel (1-0) with 15 points, Chris Bahr had 12 and Penman added 10.
Mount Miguel held San Dieguito to 13 second-half points.
In other Mt. Helix Tournament games, Madison topped Granite Hills, 65-60, and Helix defeated Serra.
Escondido 61, Orange Glen 55-- John Lovett made 10 of 10 free-throw attempts in the fourth quarter as Escondido held off a late Orange Glen rally. Scott Campbell’s 19 points and 10 rebounds led Escondido (1-1). Tim Bone added 14 for the winners. Orange Glen was led by Mike Ortega with 14 points and Steve Clinger’s 13.
