Texas Wesleyan Hands CSUN Women Second Straight Road Defeat, 77-67

The Cal State Northridge women’s basketball team dropped its second game of a three-game trip through Texas on Wednesday night, losing to Texas Wesleyan, 77-67, at Fort Worth, Tex.

The Lady Matadors, who lost on Monday to Division I Texas-Arlington, will complete their trip today, when they play North Texas State, another Division I team.

Texas Wesleyan (4-4), an NAIA school, was led by forward Joanna Hooker, who scored 20 points.

Northridge, which committed 26 turnovers and fell to 2-3, was paced by sophomore point guard Vicki Mallett, who had 16 points, 5 assists and 4 steals. She made 5 of 9 shots and 6 of 8 free throws.

Northridge’s Julie Middleton and Denise Sitton each scored 13 points.
