JC Bowl Roundup : Glendale Upset by Riverside

Keith Widener threw three touchdown passes to lead Riverside City College to a 28-10 upset victory over Glendale, the top-ranked team in the nation, in the PONY Bowl Saturday at Orange Coast College.

Widener had scoring tosses of 9 and 13 yards as Riverside took a 14-10 halftime lead, the first time that Glendale had trailed all season.

Widener finished with 5 completions in 11 attempts for 101 yards, while Mike Moore rushed for 186 yards in 22 carries against a Glendale defense that had allowed less than 200 total yards a game.

Glendale’s offense, which had been averaging 36 points a game, never got untracked as the Tiger defense sacked All-American quarterback Rob Huffman six times. Both teams finish 10-1.

Desert 45, Golden West 28--Al Walls threw for three touchdowns and ran for another to lead the Roadrunners over the Wrestlers in the Southern California Conference Bowl at College of the Desert.

Walls threw touchdowns passes of 6 and 10 yards and ran for a 2-yard touchdown as Desert (9-2) built a 31-14 halftime lead. Walls completed 16 of 25 passes for 134 yards. Golden West finishes 8-3.
