Prep Soccer : Puckett’s 2 Goals Pace Tustin Win

Darren Puckett scored two goals Monday to lead Tustin High School to a 6-0 victory over Westminster in a nonleague game at Tustin.

Rick Hawas, Kevin Vrvillar, Tom Kotlar and Brian Hardin also scored for the Tillers.

Tustin goalie Tim Kotlar had four saves in recording the shutout. Westminster goalie Todd Bischof had 12 saves.

Tustin is 2-1-1. Westminster is 1-4.

Marina 1, Palos Verdes 0--Darin Fishman scored the only goal of the game at the 75-minute mark to lead the Vikings to the victory at Marina. Steve Ross had five saves in goal for the Vikings. Marina (5-1-1) is at South Torrance Thursday.

Estancia 1, Capistrano Valley 0--Eric Kirsch scored at the 18-minute mark of the second half to lead the Eagles to the victory at Estancia. Mark Tyssee had 10 saves in goal for Estancia, which is ranked fifth in the Southern Section 2-A soccer coaches’ poll. Estancia (5-2) is at Dana Hills Wednesday.

Mater Dei 3, Brea-Olinda 2--John Coggins scored two goals to lead the Monarchs to the victory at Mater Dei. Coggins’ second goal broke a 2-2 tie in the second half to provide the Monarchs with the winning margin. Mater Dei is 1-0. Brea-Olinda is 3-4-1.
