Lazers Are Beaten by Strikers, 6-4

Twenty-four hours after being shut out for the first time in their four-year history, the Lazers lost another Major Indoor Soccer League game Saturday night when they were beaten, 6-4, by the Minnesota Strikers before a crowd of 6,454 at the Forum.

The Lazers, who had lost, 2-0, to the Sidekicks at Dallas Friday night, never led the Strikers. Three first-half goals by Alan Willey and one each in the second half by Chris Dangerfield, Hector Marinaro and Mike Jeffries gave the Strikers all they needed.

The Lazers’ goals were scored by Adam Topolski and Erhardt Kapp in the first half and by Darko Birjukov and Stuart Lee in the second.

The loss left the Lazers with a 6-14 record and in last place in the MISL’s Western Division, 10 1/2 games behind the first-place Tacoma Stars. Minnesota improved to 12-8.
