STATISTICAL WATCH : Canyon’s Paskwietz Sets Ceiling on Fouls at Four

For the second time this season, Canyon’s Greg Paskwietz played the entire fourth quarter with four fouls. Paskwietz managed to score six points to finish with 14 in Canyon’s 58-45 win over Antelope Valley on Friday.

Rebounding: Kennedy’s Marcus Malone, who plays guard on offense and forward on defense, has averaged 11.3 rebounds in Valley League games. . . . Reseda’s Joe Crawford (134), Jeff Ricks (134) and Robert Stepner (124) have combined for 392 rebounds in 14 games. . . . Sylmar’s David Baker had a team season-high 11 rebounds against Poly last week.

Shooting: Mike Walker of St. Genevieve made 8 of 10 shots and 4 of 4 free throws against Salesian last week. . . . North Hollywood’s Alan Breslauer broke a recent scoring slump with a season-high 20 points against Van Nuys.

Girls basketball: The leading scorers for Thousand Oaks--Kris Pederson and Lina Mascarenas--have set several single-game school records. Pederson, who is averaging 15 points per game, has records of 28 points and 23 assists. Mascarenas, averaging 12 points, made a record 17 of 24 free throws. . . . Rio Mesa senior Mitsie O’Brien passed the 1,000-point mark on her 13th point in a win over Ventura last Tuesday. She finished the week with a school-record 1,018.

Campbell Hall has held opponents to 20 or fewer points four times this season and has outscored opponents by an average of 54-29 in compiling a 10-3 record. . . . Three La Reina players scored in double figures in the Regents’ 60-22 win over St. Bonaventure last week. Amy Alarian had 14 points and seven rebounds, Teresa Anderson scored 12 points, and Christina Ornelaz had 11 points and 11 rebounds. . . . Buckley junior Laura Kirkpatrick scored 26 points and had a career-high 20 rebounds Friday. . . . Royal’s Blanca Escobar scored 17 points and had 19 rebounds against Simi Valley last week, the third time she’s had at least 14 points and 12 rebounds.
