San Diego High School Basketball : GROSSMONT LEAGUE

Valhalla 66, Granite Hills 58--Behind a solid full-court press, Valhalla outscored Granite Hills, 24-16, in the third period to seal the victory at Granite Hills. Charlie Foley scored 14 points and had 18 rebounds and Troy Toolson scored 15 points to lead Valhalla (10-3, 14-5). Granite Hills (7-7, 8-12) was led by Quintin Hollis’ 16 points.

El Capitan 52, Helix 50--El Capitan outscored Helix, 17-9, in the third period at El Capitan. Eric Lozoya scored 15 points and Bryan Palmer added 12 to pace El Capitan (5-8, 9-10). Helix (2-12, 5-15) was led by Clifton Blevins’ 11 points.

CITY WESTERN LEAGUE

University City 60, Kearny 58 (Double OT)--Mike Weaver hit a 12-footer from the baseline with three seconds remaining in the second overtime to give host University City (4-4, 8-8) the victory. Weaver, who had five of University City’s nine points in overtime, finished with 16 points and 8 rebounds. Trailing at halftime, 25-21, Kearny (5-3, 16-6) rallied in the third period, outscoring University City, 18-12.

Clairemont 64, Mission Bay 39--Clairemont’s starters all scored in double figures, including Ray McDavid, who scored 15. Clairemont (5-3, 15-6) is tied for first in the league with Kearny. Mission Bay is 3-5, 7-10.

La Jolla 64, University of San Diego High School 44--Adam Kleid had 19 points, 11 rebounds and 11 steals for host La Jolla (4-4, 13-8). La Jolla’s Sean Rogers added 16 points and 11 rebounds. USDHS is 4-4 and 7-12.

CITY CENTRAL LEAGUE

St. Augustine 80, Lincoln 76 (OT)--Charlie Applegate, who hit both ends of a one-on-one with two seconds remaining to send the game into overtime, scored four of the Saints’ six points in the overtime to give Lincoln its first league loss. Applegate finished with 28 points and Doug Carter added 26 to pace St. Augustine (4-4, 12-7). Ken Hawkins had 22 points for Lincoln (7-1, 14-6).

Crawford 57, San Diego 30--James Henry had 21 points, 10 rebounds and 9 blocked shots to lead host Crawford (3-5, 6-14). San Diego is 0-8 and 0-16.

CITY EASTERN LEAGUE

Morse 102, Serra 41--A full-court press allowed Morse to take a 47-17 lead at halftime at Serra. Morse’s starters all scored in double figures. Marcus Combs scored 19 points and Rey Parson had 17 to pace the Tigers (7-1, 17-2). Serra is 0-8, 2-19.

Patrick Henry 60, Mira Mesa 55--Charlie Russell scored 15 points and Oscar McRae added 14 to lead Patrick Henry (3-5, 10-10). Tal Miller had 15 points and David Lee 12 to pace Mira Mesa (5-3, 17-5). Mira Mesa made only 18 of 59 shots from the field.

Madison 80, Point Loma 45--Madison, which led by only three points at the half, outscored Point Loma, 49-17, in the second half at Madison. Andre Mitchell scored 16 points for Madison (6-2, 15-6). Point Loma is 3-5 and 10-13.

GIRLS

CITY WESTERN LEAGUE

La Jolla 72, USDHS 36--Sophomore guard Nicole Anderson had 31 points, 7 steals, 7 assists and 5 rebounds to pace La Jolla (8-0, 11-7), which clinched at least a tie for the league championship.

Mission Bay 44, Clairemont 39--The victory assures Mission Bay (6-2) a playoff spot. Clairemont (4-4) falls to third place.

CITY EASTERN LEAGUE

Point Loma 95, Madison 36--Point Loma gained its 51st straight victory. The Pointers are 114-1 since All-American forward Terri Mann joined the team 3 1/2 years ago.
