In other 3-A action:

Mira Mesa 67, Valhalla 54--Mira Mesa turned a seven-point halftime deficit into an eight-point advantage with a 22-8 outburst in the third quarter at Mira Mesa. Mira Mesa trailed at halftime, 30-23, but took advantage of Valhalla turnovers in the third quarter to take the lead for good. Mike Eicher led seventh-ranked Mira Mesa (19-6) with 19 points and David Lee added 17 (5 in the third quarter). Tal Miller had 6 of his 10 points in the third quarter. Valhalla (15-8) was led by Rob Tubman and Rafid Kiti with 15 points each.

In 2-A action:

Oceanside 48, University City 37--Oceanside (18-7) shot only 34% (9 for 26) from the field in the first half but opened the second half with 8 unanswered points to take control of the game at Oceanside. Oceanside, which shot 49% (12 for 23) from the field in the second half, outscored University City, 14-4, in the third quarter. Oceanside’s Junior Seau scored a game-high 23 points. University City (9-11) was led by Alan Peller’s 10 points. Lincoln hosts Oceanside Friday at 7:30.

Briefly--St. Augustine 54, San Marcos 49.

GIRLS In 3-A action:

Madison 53, Monte Vista 45--Monica Barrow scored 20 points and Kathy Weathers added 18 as Madison (16-6) won at home. Melisa Smith scored 22 points for Monte Vista.

Briefly--Fallbrook 69, Grossmont 43.

In 2-A action:

Ramona 50, Castle Park 39--Lori Brunner scored 22 points and Gina Tamburrino added 16 to lead Ramona at home. Ramona (17-6) took a 26-11 halftime lead. Castle Park closed to within nine points in the third quarter but couldn’t get closer. Ramona plays at Lincoln at 6 p.m. Friday.

Oceanside 50, San Diego 45--Oceanside trailed by 10 points most of the game but when San Diego center Tara Downs fouled out, Oceanside took advantage of her absence at San Diego. Mildred Conston scored 22 points to lead Oceanside. Thelma Sanders scored 19 points for San Diego (14-7).
