San Diego Section Soccer : USDHS Wins in 4 Overtimes, 1-0
Lisa Gorog scored with 20 seconds remaining in the fourth overtime Tuesday night to give University of San Diego High School a 1-0 victory over No. 11-seeded Ramona in 2-A girls’ soccer semifinals at San Marcos High School.
In the section final Friday, fifth-seeded USDHS will play defending 2-A champion San Pasqual, which defeated San Marcos Tuesday night.
San Pasqual 2, San Marcos 1--Karen Lindsey’s goal in double overtime, set up by Kathy Stark’s header, gave second-seeded San Pasqual the victory over No. 9 San Marcos. April Austin scored to give San Marcos the lead 11 minutes into the second half. Stark tied the score for San Pasqual midway through the second half with a corner kick.
In the boys’ 2-A playoffs:
La Jolla 3, Carlsbad 0--Mike Curless scored two goals in the second half to lead La Jolla at San Diego High School. Eric Ople gave La Jolla the lead with a goal in the first half.
University City 1, St. Augustine 0--Justin Stockman’s goal 10 minutes into the second half gave No. 1-seeded University City the victory.
