Hawaii Defeats SDSU in Baseball, 5-3
Hawaii held San Diego State to one hit Saturday as the visiting Rainbow Warriors defeated the Aztecs, 5-3, in the Western Athletic Conference opener for both.
Though he had not allowed a hit, Hawaii starting pitcher Paul Brown was removed from the game in the fourth inning after he walked seven batters and hit SDSU’s Lance Pinnell with the bases loaded as the Aztecs cut Hawaii’s lead to 3-2. Reliever Cory Nagano (3-1) got the win.
Hawaii center fielder Dan Nyssen was 3 for 4 with a triple, an RBI and two runs scored. SDSU is 0-1 and 18-14-1; Hawaii 1-0 and 19-15.
