Michele Granger pitched her 21st career no-hitter Tuesday, tying the Southern Section record, as Valencia High School defeated Savanna, 5-0, in a 14-inning game at Savanna. Granger, a junior, struck out 31 and faced the minimum 42 batters, walking one batter who was later thrown out.

The Tigers (1-0, 8-5) scored five runs in the 14th inning, three on Kristi Valdez’s game-winning bases-loaded triple. Savanna is 0-1, 5-11.

Christy Brown threw a no-hitter, striking out 14, to lead Pacifica High School to a 3-0 victory over host Katella. Brown (7-2) walked three.

Shannon Riley had two doubles and two runs batted in for Pacifica (3-2, 9-4).

Tresa Pedraza threw a no-hitter, striking out the first 14 batters she faced in Rosary High School’s 12-0 five-inning Sunrise League victory over St. Matthias at Lions Field.

She lost her bid for a perfect game when she walked the 15th batter on a full-count pitch. The baserunner was caught stealing for the final out. The game was shortened because of a 10-run mercy rule. Rosary is 4-0, 7-7.
