Neal Peek, an administrator and former football coach, has been named varsity basketball coach at Costa Mesa High School.

Peek, 52, replaces Craig Falconer, who resigned in February after two seasons with a 5-38 record. Peek was Costa Mesa’s head football coach from 1965 to 1968 and also coached the school’s lower-level basketball teams until leaving in 1970.

Peek became an administrator and head football coach at Brethren High in Paramount in 1971 and later moved to San Jose, where he was named the principal at Valley Christian High. He returned to Costa Mesa as a physical education instructor this year.
