Four Aztecs Named to All-Western Division Team
Four San Diego State University baseball players were named to the Western Athletic Conference all-Western Division team announced Wednesday.
Named to the team were Aztec pitchers Mike Erb and James Campbell, third baseman/designated hitter Nikco Riesgo and outfielder Bob Parry.
Erb was the conference’s only pitcher to reach the 100-strikeout level during the regular season. Campbell, who has a 7-3 record, was the WAC’s earned-run average leader with an ERA of 2.14.
Parry is the Aztecs’ leading hitter with a .428 average, and Riesgo, who hit .407, tied a school record with nine triples.
Other members of the WAC All-Western Division team are: Paul Brown (Hawaii), pitcher; Mike Mulvaney (Wyoming), first base; Dan Snover (Hawaii), second base; Craig Maki (Wyoming), second base; Mark Rasmussen (Hawaii), shortstop; Markus Owens (Hawaii), third base; Ken Lake (Wyoming), outfield; Dan Nyssen (Hawaii), outfield; Larry Gonzales (Hawaii), catcher; and John Matias (Hawaii), designated hitter.
