Mekonnen Wins Paris Marathon

PARIS, France —
Ethopian Abebe Mekonnen broke away from fellow countryman Tefera Guta in the final four miles Sunday to win the Paris Marathon.
Mekonnen was timed in 2 hours, 11 minutes, 9 seconds, 20 seconds, just short of the record of 2:10:49 set by France’s Jacky Boxberger in 1985.
