Crossroads Plays Tehachapi for Title
Santa Monica Crossroads High School will be trying to win its second title in three years when the Roadrunners play Tehachapi tonight at 7:30 in the Southern Section Small Schools (Large Division) baseball championship game at Blair Field in Long Beach.
The No. 2-seeded Roadrunners (21-6), won the title in 1985, outscoring opponents in five playoff games, 108-12. This year’s team is not quite so dominating, rallying from a 7-3 deficit to defeat Serrano of Phelan in the semifinals, 8-7.
Tehachapi (21-3) advanced to the final with a 10-4 rout of No. 1-seeded Van Nuys Montclair Prep.
Preceding the Crossroads game, Palos Verdes Chadwick (15-7) will play second seeded Templeton (21-4) at 4:30 p.m. for the Small Schools (Small Division) title. The Small Schools were split into two divisions this year for baseball because there were too many schools for one division.
