Payes of Fairfax Bids for Third Straight City Tennis Title Today Against Cortez of Carson

Giora Payes of Fairfax High School will try to become only the second player to win three straight titles when he plays Anthony Cortez of Carson in the 52nd annual City individual tennis final today at 2:30 p.m. at the Racquet Centre in Studio City.

Bruce Manson of Van Nuys Grant is the only player to have won three straight titles, accomplishing that feat in 1972-1974. Payes has never lost a match in City competition.

In the doubles final, David Kaiden and Bruce Osterman of North Hollywood will play Scott Stokdyk and Eric Shiu of Palisades, also at 2:30.
