John Morgan, a UC Irvine senior swimmer, won all 10 events in which he competed and set four world records in his division at the recent U.S. Assn. for Blind Athletes National Championships at Albuquerque, N.M.

Morgan set records in the 100-meter freestyle (56.26 seconds), 50 freestyle (26.46), 100 butterfly (1:05.05) and 200 breaststroke (3:01.72). He also set national records in the 200 freestyle (2:07.56) and 800 freestyle (9:17.23), and he won the 200 individual medley, 400 individual, 100 breaststroke and 400 freestyle.

Randal Moos, a Santa Monica City College shooting guard, and Brent Calvin, a College of the Sequoias forward, have signed national letters of intent to continue their basketball careers at Cal State Fullerton.

The 6-foot 3-inch Moos averaged 9.1 points and 7.7 rebounds last season. Calvin (6-8) averaged 9.8 points and 4.4 rebounds.

Dustin Tessier, an 11-year-old from Seal Beach, won a gold medal in Tae Kwon Do, a Korean martial art similar to karate, in the National Junior Olympics June 18 at Tulsa, Okla.

Tessier finished first in a field of 68 competitors in his division during the three-day competition.

Andy Olivarez of Cypress College and Nicole Brechtbuhl of Fullerton were voted the male and female Orange County Community College Athletes of the year by sports information directors. Olivarez ran cross-country and played basketball at Cypress, and he will play basketball at USC in the fall. Brechtbuhl was the California community college state singles tennis champion and will attend Cal State Fullerton this fall. Saddleback basketball coach Bill Brummel was voted the men’s coach of the year, and Fullerton tennis coach Ann Read the women’s coach of the year.
