Cal State Northridge Signs 19 Swimmers

The Cal State Northridge women’s swim team, which won the NCAA Division II national championship last season, has received commitments from seven athletes for next year. The men’s team, which was third in the nation, has recruited 12 new members.

The newcomers are Tina Dodson, a freshman from New York who specializes in the butterfly and individual medley; Carolyn Churchill, a freshman from Thousand Oaks (freestyle); Erica Freeman, a freshman from Ridgecrest (breaststroke); Michele Sulak, a freshman from Walnut, Calif., (freestyle); Carole Eisele, a freshman from San Diego (backstroke, IM); Sheryl Watier, a freshman from San Diego (IM); and Jeanna Giessinger, a transfer from Cuesta College (freestyle).

The men’s team has received commitments from Kurt White, a junior transfer from Ventura (backstroke, IM); Mike Crews, a junior transfer from Santa Monica (breaststroke); Tim Arnold, a junior transfer from Santa Monica (freestyle) and Brent Ford, a junior transfer from Santa Monica (butterfly, freestyle).

Also signed were Rohan Taylor, a sophomore transfer from UNLV (freestyle); Mike Fitzpatrick, a sophomore transfer from Iowa (freestyle, IM); Jesse Kelly, sophomore and former CSUN swimmer who sat out last season (breaststroke, IM); Rick Hamilton, a junior transfer from Sonoma (backstroke); Sean Barr, a freshman from Irvine (freestyle); Ryan Ramsey, a freshman from Culver City (breaststroke); Kevin Jack, a freshman from Irvine (freestyle) and Jay Keeley, a freshman from Petaluma (breaststroke).
