The total purse will be $105,400, with the winner earning $60,400.

Ferdinand is coming off a victory in the Hollywood Gold Cup at Hollywood Park, a race won by Super Diamond in 1986.

Ferdinand, the 1986 Kentucky Derby winner, has career earnings of more than $1.8 million, while Super Diamond has earned more than $958,000.

Super Diamond will be racing for only the second time this year. He won the San Diego Handicap at Del Mar in his 1987 debut on Aug. 8. Nostalgia’s Star finished second in that race.

Entries will be drawn today for Sunday’s $150,000-added Del Mar Oaks, a 1 1/8-mile race for 3-year-old fillies on the turf course.
