Buena Park Regains Freeway Crown in Cross-Country

Buena Park High School defeated La Habra, 23-34, to clinch the Freeway League dual meet boys’ cross-country title Thursday at La Habra, its 10th championship in the last 12 years but its first since 1985.

Buena Park is 4-0 with one meet left. La Habra, which is in second place, is 2-2.

Buena Park won the league title 10 times from 1975-85, but La Habra had won it the last two seasons.

Terrance Mahon of La Habra won Thursday’s three-mile race with a time of 15 minutes 28 seconds, but Buena Park took the next four spots. Brothers Gabriel and Antonio Sanchez and Jesus Ocona tied for second in 16:00, and Marty Bratti was fifth in 16:01.
