Barnes Leads Trabuco Hills, 30-10
John Barnes accounted for four second-half touchdowns as Trabuco Hills High School scored a 30-10 Pacific Coast League victory over Costa Mesa Thursday night at Newport Harbor High.
Barnes threw two of his three touchdown passes in the third quarter. The first, a 28-yard pass to John Sebastian, tied the score at 10-10 with seven minutes remaining in the quarter.
The second, a 26-yard scoring pass to Tim Manning with 25 seconds left, came two plays after Trabuco Hills linebacker Matt Davis recovered a fumble by Costa Mesa’s Shawn Leffingwell on the Costa Mesa 42. Barnes then put the game out of reach in the fourth quarter with a one-yard scoring run and a four-yard scoring pass.
