Southern Section Water Polo : Sotter, Kennefick Score 5 Goals Each as Capistrano Valley Advances, 17-8

John Sotter and Joe Kennefick scored five goals each for Capistrano Valley High School as the Cougars beat J.W. North of Riverside, 17-8, Saturday in a Southern Section 3-A second-round water polo match at Saddleback College.
Scott Rutherford added four goals for the Cougars. Sotter, Kennefick and Rutherford have each scored eight goals in the Cougars’ two playoff games. Capistrano Valley (19-6) will meet Los Alamitos in the quarterfinals.
In other 3-A water polo matches:
Los Alamitos 12, Royal 8--The second-seeded Griffins, paced by Tom Anderson with four goals, improved their record to 25-4 at Royal High School. Jon Wimbish, Kevin McIntyre and Erik Lynch added two goals apiece.
San Clemente 12, Gahr 3--The top-seeded Tritons (23-5) were powered by Jason Leeds with four goals and Greg Morriss with three at Cerritos College. Goalie Paul Linnebach had 10 saves. Gahr finishes 19-8.
El Dorado 11, Indio 3--In a second-round match at El Dorado High School, the fourth-seeded Hawks improved their record to 15-12.
