Community College Roundup : Rancho Santiago Defeats L.A. Harbor, Gains 2nd Consecutive Soccer Title

Rancho Santiago clinched the Orange Empire Conference men’s soccer title with a 5-1 victory over L.A. Harbor Friday at Rancho Santiago.

It was the second consecutive year Rancho Santiago has won the Orange Empire title, the school’s seventh in 12 seasons.

Erin Wright and Jose Guerrero had two goals each and Hector Tapia had one for Rancho Santiago (15-3-1 overall, 12-2-1 in conference). Rancho Santiago opens the playoffs Nov. 21 at home.

In another Orange Empire Conference men’s soccer match:

Orange Coast 7, Victor Valley 1--Kevin Wolfe had three goals to lead the Pirates at Victor Valley in their final game of the season. Brian Krause, Steve Muzzy, David Vautrin and John Bovetas each scored one goal and goalkeeper Julian Dos Santos had three saves for Orange Coast (11-7-2, 9-5-1), which finished third in the Orange Empire Conference.

In men’s South Coast Conference soccer:

Golden West 3, Mt. San Antonio 0--Wabel Alsowaigh, Mike Weiss and Kurt Lundberg scored for Golden West (15-2-4, 6-2-2), which clinched the conference title at home. Golden West will host a playoff game Nov. 21. Goalie Erik Smith had seven saves for Golden West.
