Tennessee, rated No. 18, and Indiana, ranked 16th, reportedly will accept bids to play Jan. 2 in the Peach Bowl football game.
At least three Tennessee newspapers reported that Peach Bowl officials made an unofficial agreement with the Volunteers to play the Hoosiers in the Atlanta game, which would give each team $800,000. Formal bids won’t be extended until Saturday.
The Volunteers, of the Southeastern Conference, are 7-2-1 after a 55-13 win over Mississippi last Saturday, and the Hoosiers, of the Big Ten, are 7-3 after losing to Michigan State, 27-3.
Indiana will play Purdue to complete its regular season, and the Volunteers will wind up their regular season with SEC games against Kentucky and Vanderbilt.
