Community College Basketball : Rancho Santiago Downs Cerritos With Three Big Performances
Ralph Garcia scored 19 points, Ken Ammann 18 and Alonzo Jamison 17 Tuesday night to lead Rancho Santiago to an 80-75 victory over Cerritos in a men’s nonconference basketball game at Cerritos.
Tony Smalley scored 13 for Rancho Santiago (3-1), which trailed, 38-37, at halftime but rallied in the second half.
In women’s nonconference basketball:
Golden West 102, San Diego City 55--Kathy Werth scored 16 points and had 10 rebounds for Golden West, which won at home. Shawna Armstrong added 14 points and 7 rebounds for Golden West (3-1).
Jeannine Battaglia, playing for the first time this season after suffering a sprained ankle two weeks ago, had 11 points. San Diego City is 0-5.
Cypress 67, Long Beach 59--Becky Wayland, a freshman forward from Katella High School, scored 18 points and had 14 rebounds to lead the Chargers (3-1) at home. Karen Caires scored 16 points and Venetta Dorlis had 13 points and 10 rebounds also for Cypress.
Janice Pearson, a freshman for Long Beach (4-2), had 13 points and 21 rebounds.
