Laguna Beach’s Lane, Schmitt Cited by PCL

Danny Lane, the Laguna Beach High School quarterback who completed 66% of his passes for 1,877 yards and threw at least one touchdown pass in 13 consecutive games, was named the most valuable offensive player of the Pacific Coast League in a vote of the league’s football coaches.

Teammate Pete Schmitt, a versatile tight end and defensive end was named the leaguer’s most valuable defensive player. The league champion Artists had eight players selected to the first teams, and runner-up Woodbridge had six.
