High School Soccer : Colgan Leads Chatsworth to West Valley Title, 5-0

Craig Colgan scored three goals to lead Chatsworth to a 5-0 victory over Cleveland, giving the Chancellors the West Valley League championship in a makeup game played Tuesday.

Chatsworth will play host to Venice in the opening round of the City Section playoffs, beginning Jan. 7.

“We played one of our best games of the year,” Chancellor Coach Richard Doran said. Chatsworth led, 1-0, at the half, then scored four quick goals early in the second half.

Taft 3, El Camino Real 1--In another makeup game, Taft won at home to finish in a second-place tie with Reseda, which finished its season last week. The teams will play a tiebreaker at a neutral site that has yet to be determined, said Lee Joseph, a City administrator.

The winner will play at Palisades in the first round of the playoffs.

In other first-round playoff games involving Valley-area teams, Mid-Valley League champion Monroe is at home against Los Angeles High, the Southern League’s second-place team; East Valley League champion Poly is at home against Wilson, the Northern League’s second-place team, and San Fernando, the Mid-Valley League’s second-place team, travels to Belmont, the Northern League champion.

Agoura 2, Buena 0--Brian Parker and Tim Ward each scored as Agoura (5-0-1) won a nonleague match at Buena.
