Ian Alsen of Granada Hills High and Mike Glaze of Notre Dame were named to the 1987 All-American high school cross-country team selected by the Cross-Country Journal.

Alsen, the Kinney West Regional champion, and Glaze, the third-place finisher in the state Division II championships, were selected to the 15-man team in the Large School Division (1,000 or more students).

Although the honor is given for cross-country, it actually is based on three-mile track times.

Alsen won a three-mile race in 14 minutes, 19 seconds at Birmingham High in December and Glaze placed third in 14:41.

Jaime Ortega of Arroyo, the state Division I team champion, placed second (14:33) and also was named to the All-American team.
