Community College Roundup : Golden West Routs Rio Hondo in Baseball, 17-2

Rick Vanderriet hit two home runs, as Golden West College collected a season-high 20 hits in defeating Rio Hondo, 17-2, in a nonconference baseball game at Golden West.
Vanderriet, who had three hits, homered in the first and third innings, as Golden West (7-3) scored 16 of its runs during the first three innings. Vanderriet drive in five runs.

Rancho Santiago 7, MiraCosta 2--Mike Gonzalez hit a three-run home run and Bob Hamelin a two-run home run, as No. 1-ranked Rancho Santiago remained undefeated with a victory at MiraCosta.
Fullerton 12, Chaffey 1--Deryk Hudson hit a three-run home run in the first inning to give Fullerton (11-2-1) an early lead at Chaffey.
Orange Coast 9, L.A. Valley 4--Derick Dedashtian went 2 for 5, with 4 RBIs, to lead Orange Coast (3-7-1) at L.A. Valley.
Cypress 15, Pasadena 6--Tim Churchill went 2-for-5 with 3 RBIs to lead host Cypress (12-2).
In Orange Empire Conference softball play:
Rancho Santiago 5, Riverside 0--Dawn Robertson (2-3) allowed two hits as host Rancho Santiago (4-5, 1-1) won.
Cypress 13, Ventura 0--Noel Parker (4-4) allowed just one hit, as host Cypress (8-6) routed Ventura.
In South Coast Conference men’s tennis:
Golden West 9, Cerritos 0--Marcelino Rosales defeated Terry Fryer, 7-5, 6-3, to lead host Golden West (5-4, 3-0).
