Lazers’ Comeback Falls Short in St. Louis, 8-7

ST. LOUIS — Poli Garcia scored two goals and added two assists, and Redmond Lane had a goal and an assist Friday night to lead the St. Louis Steamers to an 8-7 Major Indoor Soccer League victory over the Los Angeles Lazers.
Chico Borja scored two goals and had two assists for Los Angeles (20-21), which has lost 3 of its last 4.
St. Louis (13-30) scored five goals, the most it has in any quarter this season, to take a 5-2 lead after one period. The Steamers led, 8-3, before the Lazers rallied. Zoran Savic cut the lead to 8-4 at 4:32, and Los Angeles pulled within 8-5 on another goal by Borja.
Thompson Usiyan scored at 5:23 to cut the deficit to 8-6, and Paul Child deflected in a shot by Borja with 18 seconds remaining to round out the scoring.
