Mission Bay 6, Helix 1--Sean Rees threw a two-hitter while striking out seven and allowing no earned runs to lead Mission Bay (4-0). Rees (2-0) allowed no earned runs. Colin Davis was 2 for 4 with 2 RBIs for Mission Bay.

Poway 6, Hilltop 5--Eddie Cornblum, who reached base on a one-out error, scored on a single by pinch-hitter Todd Waters in the top of the seventh. Matt Schwenke had a solo home run for Poway in the fourth. Larry Beebe hit a two-out double in the bottom of the seventh but Hilltop (0-4) could not bring him home.

Chula Vista 12, Escondido 5-- Pitcher Anthony Garcia (1-1) didn’t allow an earned run, and catcher Eric Slinkard had three doubles and three RBIs as host Chula Vista (1-5) overcame five errors.

El Capitan, 7, University of San Diego High School 6--Dan Freeman singled in the tying run, and Jeremy Ellis brought home the winner with a sacrifice fly in the seventh for host El Capitan. University’s Jeff Des Jardins opened the game with a home run as University shot to a 6-0 lead. Nino DiMaio hit a two-run home run in the sixth to cut it to 6-5. Both teams are 2-2.

San Marcos 8, St. Augustine 6-- Tom Morton and Chris Selenak each had two-run singles in the fourth inning to rally host San Marcos (3-1). Relief pitcher Villa Lobos (1-0) pitched two scoreless innings for San Marcos.

PIRATE--GOODMAN CLASSIC

Patrick Henry 3, Oceanside 2--Rick Suhl had the game-winning RBI with a two-run single in the fourth at Oceanside. Patrick Henry (3-1) scored 9 runs and had 3 home runs discounted when the sixth inning was called because of darkness. Scott Riley was 2 for 4 and scored once for Oceanside (2-1).

Fallbrook 5, San Pasqual 4--Jamie Wilcox hit a solo home run in the bottom of the fifth and final inning as Fallbrook rallied for the victory at home. Mike Gainsborough also had a solo homer for Fallbrook (2-1). Kevin Hurde was 3 for 3 with a double and 2 RBIs for San Pasqual.

Torrey Pines 4, Carlsbad 3--Host Torrey Pines (5-0) took advantage of Jeff Myers’ sluggish start, and relief pitcher Aaron Mirandon gained his second save. Myers allowed three runs in the first inning, two on wild pitches, before settling down. Bob McGriff, Jason Wright and Tim Walker each had two hits for Torrey Pines, which overcame four errors. Reliever Mike Hochleutner (1-0) gained the victory.

GMC TOURNAMENT

San Diego 5, La Jolla Country Day 4--San Diego (3-1) scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth at home. The game was called after six innings because of darkness. Brian Baird hit a two-run single to tie the score, and Dave Moore hit a bases-loaded single with no outs to win it. Keon Sly (1-0) was the winner. LJCD is 0-4.

CRAWFORD TOURNAMENT

La Jolla 5, Serra 3--Visiting La Jolla (1-0) jumped to a 3-0 lead in the first inning as Brent Woodall tripled in two runs and then scored on a balk. Relief pitcher Luke Williams (1-0) pitched four innings, allowing one run, for the victory. Serra had six errors.
