THE PREPS : Softball : Boyd Wins Twice for Woodbridge

Tiffany Boyd had 27 strikeouts as Woodbridge High School swept a doubleheader, 3-2 and 1-0, from San Clemente in nonleague softball Friday at San Clemente.

Boyd had 15 strikeouts in the first game as Woodbridge scored two runs in the second inning and one in the sixth to win. Boyd had 12 strikeouts in the second game.

Michelle Shean had a pair of doubles, an RBI and scored a run for San Clemente (10-5) in the first game.

In the Sea View League:

Tustin 12 Newport Harbor 0 (5 innings)--At Newport Harbor, Jayne Onorachk threw an eight-hitter, striking out six, to lead Tustin in a game called because of the mercy rule. Chanelle Chambroni went 2 for 3 with two RBIs for Tustin.

In the Canyon tournament:

Canyon 1, Western 0--Katie Kramer threw a two-hitter to lead Canyon (8-5), which scored in the fourth inning on an RBI single by Niki Lewis to score Susan Roberts at Peralta Park. Western is 6-8.

Savanna 4, Buena Park 0--Nadine Ditto (8-7) threw a two-hitter in a consolation game at Peralta. Carrie Fredick and Lisa Hawthorne each had solo home runs for Savanna.

Ocean View 6, Loara 1--Cindy Schneller (7-6) pitched four innings, striking out three, for Ocean View in a consolation game at Peralta Park. Jena Sansone went 2 for 3 with two RBIs for Ocean View (9-7).

In nonleague games:

Dana Hills 16, Costa Mesa 0--Jackie Volkert pitched a five-hitter and struck out seven to lead visiting Dana Hills. The Dolphins (4-7) had 12 hits.

Rosary 1, Valley Christian 0--Jennifer Salazar pitched a four-hitter and had six strikeouts to lead host Rosary (8-6) at Tamarack Park in Brea. Cindy Matthews singled to score Janice Staden who had reached on an error to start the second inning. Matthews, the Rosary left-fielder, also threw out the potential tying runs at the plate to end the inning.
